Derick swimming started at the age of four, where he went into joining Mansfield Christian High School swim team, in Mansfield, Ohio. He started his coaching career at the Columbus Parks and Recreational Dodge Swim Team, and has since been coaching swimming of all ages for the past 12 years. Derick has swam with the The Downtown YMCA, Columbus, Ohio, McBurney YMCA, New York, and Columbia University's Masters Swim Teams. He currently serves as the Head Swim Coach for Trident's swim programs in New York.
Derick views competitive swimming as a way to apply lessons learned in the water to continued positive reinforcements that attribute to sustaining balanced aspects in his life. He believes that every student should always have access to swimming. As an educator and artist, competitive swimming allows for him to think critically, and create visual imagery, he values the opportunity to give back and guide other students to do the same. |
Swim Coach, LA - Joey Cavazos

Joey began swimming at the age of two and entered competitive swimming by age four, continuing through high school. During that time, he also played water polo and went on to compete at the collegiate level at Loyola Marymount University.
For the past three years, Joey has coached water polo and has spent the past two years coaching swimming. Having been fortunate to learn from exceptional coaches throughout his development, he is passionate about giving back and helping the next generation of athletes grow both in and out of the water. |
