Academic and Athletic Excellence
The objectives of the Swimmer Scholar program are twofold: to provide quality aquatics programming to communities that have historically lacked access, and to use sport to help underserved youth develop skills and qualities that will enable them to achieve in, and beyond, high school to postsecondary education.
At its core, the program consists of a daily swim practice, firstly where students learn to swim and then go on to compete as a team under the guidance of TSF coaches; and a teacher-mentored study hall, where students learn to apply the skills they have honed in practice to their academics. We accept all students who want to participate.
In addition to the core components of the Swimmer Scholar program, we offer a variety of wrap-around services like academic tutoring, standardized test preparation, college admissions counseling including navigating the intricacies of financial aid. To our most experienced Swimmer Scholars, we offer Red Cross lifeguarding classes to prepare them for well-paying, necessary summer jobs.
Our programs are free to all students -- regardless of experience or swimming ability -- and all necessary equipment is provided. Our program sets high expectations for our Swimmer Scholars and provides the framework necessary for them to achieve these goals.
