The Foundation is currently recruiting for many volunteer positions.

If you are interested in becoming a Tutor or Mentor please fill out the volunteer form.

Tutors and Mentors
The key to the Swimmer Scholar academic program is focused, individualized attention. The academic aides are organized into two groups:

  • Tutors — Experts in major academic subjects are needed for each study session to help with specific assignments at least one afternoon a week.
  • Mentors — Each mentor is assigned to a Swimmer Scholar and is responsible for meeting with him/her once a week to discuss curriculum and homework assignments, encourage strong study skills, set academic and swimming goals, and focus extra attention on weak subjects.

Other Volunteer Positions
The Foundation is currently recruiting for help in the following specialized areas:

  • USA Swimming Representative — Responsible for ensuring swimmers are entered for meets, all fees are paid, registrations are done correctly, etc.

  • School Administration and Faculty Liaison — Works with school administration, faculty, and program tutors to ensure academic sessions are running smoothly and productively.

  • Friday Workshop Coordinator — Monday through Thursday the students work on homework assignments but on Fridays they will participate in other types of sessions. The coordinator for Friday workshops is responsible for programming them ahead of time throughout the academic year.

  • Grant Writer and Support — Responsible for identifying sources of funding and writing proposals to private and public grant-giving organizations.
