This year we launched our first girls-only PSAL swim team at the George Washington Educational Campus. This means that the girls get to compete against other girls in NYC, not boys like they have in the past. We were also very excited for one of our Swimmer Scholars, a budding fashion designer, to design the girls' swim suits - with a great Trident in the middle!

Congratulations to this year's Swimmer Scholar senior class! Our list of colleges where Swimmer Scholars have been accepted now stands at:
Our GW Trojans represented their campus well this season with their best record yet! Winning against all their conference competitors, we have our largest number of swimmers qualified for A championships in February!
Also a big congratulations to all the seniors who got their college applications done this year on time before the new year! We look forward to seeing the results in April! George Washington site has a record number of women and we are overflowing our classroom. Time to get a bigger space!
GW has already won their first meet! Prospect Heights PSAL team has their first developmental meet on December 13th! Good luck swimmers! We are proud to announce the expansion of our Swimmer Scholar program to the Prospect Heights Educational Campus in Brooklyn. Starting October 1, Trident will be serving a huge new community at 4 high schools with 1500 students. We are extremely excited to bring our services to Brooklyn!
We want to thank everyone who volunteered their time this year to make the 2011-2012 Swimmer Scholar program a huge success. Last week we held our annual end of year party for our students at Harlem Lanes where everyone bowled and stuffed themselves with pizza. We are excited for our impressive graduating seniors who were accepted to schools around the country, including Skidmore, Binghamton University, and Loyola University (New Orleans). The Executive Directors are also very proud of all our lifeguards who are going out to the city beaches and pools this summer to keep everyone safe. Every summer they save lives, and we commend them on their service!
This spring's SAT class, led by Kaplan, had its largest number of participants ever. One of our newest Swimmer Scholars improved his score so much that he got a 2190 on his last practice test. We are anxiously awaiting his June SAT score in preparation for early admission applications this summer!
As the swim season winds down and spring semester starts up, the Swimmer Scholars have more in-class time to develop fundamental skills. Our donors' generous support enables Trident to provide an in-classroom tutor throughout the week. Developing critical writing skills is a core value for Trident because it leads to further success in college and beyond. Essay writing, fiction exercises, reading comprehension, and vocabulary development throughout the spring directly impact Summer and Fall SAT and PSAT results for sophomores and juniors.
Congratulations to the GW Swim Team and Coach Garcia for ending a great PSAL High School season! For the first time, the team made the championship heat at the A Division Champs in the 200-free relay, finishing 8th with Swimmer Scholars Samuel Espinal, John Castillo, Diego Reynoso, and Joshua Landau. The same lineup also placed 10th in the 200 medley relay. Joshua Landrau individually finished 11th in the 50 free with a time of 23.53 while anchoring the relays in a team best 22.9. The entire team also contributed to a strong 6th place team finish at the B Division Championships a week earlier!
